3 Locations For The Perfect Boating Holiday

Published: Apr 13, 2021

Everyone has a different idea of relaxing, but according to scientific research, people tend to be most relaxed when they are in or around water. This is due to the so called “blue mind” effect that counters the “red mind” effect, which makes us anxious. The best way to relax from stress is by going on a boating holiday, and if you’re wondering where you can put your anchor, these three locations are places you definitely don’t want to miss out on.

Peaceful Block Island, Rhode Island

Since being around water is the best way for us to experience that state of tranquility, there is no better place surrounded by water than an island. In this case, the Block Island in Rhode Island, which is about 13 miles from the Newport and Connecticut coastline, could be just what you’re looking for. As you get closer to the island, you will get to see windmills in the ocean. The amusement does not stop as you are docking in, but once you dock, you will be greeted by a suburban area filled with lots of green colors. You can then relax on the crescent beach and admire landmarks such as the South East Lighthouse, or you can set out on your boat and admire the beautiful sunset that this island has to offer.

Winter charms of Miami, Florida

While boating is considered an activity that is more popular in spring and summer when the weather is warmer, Miami in winter can offer something unexpected. This is because, in winter, you will get to see all of the “snow birds” that are coming from the north in pursuit of warmer weather. Something to keep in mind during the observation of this event is boat safety, however. Make sure that your drowning risks are reduced by preparing with some lifejackets, which research shows are only worn in 10% of drowning accidents. You can never be sure how the ocean is going to behave, and as you will probably stand on the edge of the boat for a better view, you run the risk of being thrown overboard as the ocean tips the boat to one side.

Tourist’s Heaven, San Francisco, California

Sometimes the best place to go on a boating holiday is the one that gets the most attractive in general, and that is the city of San Francisco. It is the perfect place for anyone who is a fan of boats, but also grand architecture: the city offers remarkable landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Alcatraz Island. While you can visit all of those landmarks by going on a regular road trip, if you do it with a boat, you can get a much better view. Passing under the Golden Gate Bridge is truly a mesmerizing feeling. Approaching the Alcatraz Island at night also gives a unique experience, especially if you take advantage of the special night presentations.

A boating holiday is the perfect way to relax and let go of your daily stress. If you’re wondering where to take your next trip, these locations are great places to start.
