I’ve told that using @import will slow down the page load speed,
and using link like this below is better (in term of speed.)

What’s your take on this ?

I read the latest Google blog post about site speed having an affect on your rankings now...looks like its time to remove all those DNS look-ups.

I think my site was being punished a bit, so here I am...I have made most of these changes, lets see how much faster my site gets!

thanks.

Hi Michael ~
It's good to see.
I've got a question for u.
In the steve souders's "don't use @import-http://www.stevesouders.com/blog/2009/04/09/dont-use-import/" article, the @import declarelation may cause the performace problem since parellel download doesn't support at the IE browser family.
I think u have a bit different point of view.
Do u think using @import won't be a problem with performance thing?

I'm referring to @imports inside the main .css file - not in HTML.

I haven't heard of it slowing pages down.

@Michael

Regards the CSS combine method.

I've told that using @import will slow down the page load speed,
and using link like this below is better (in term of speed.)

What's your take on this ?

Great guide! I'll get to work on those tips now! I really like the bit about how to deregister plugin css files. Never knew about that, thanks

Another important point is to ensure that compression is enabled in your web server, which will speed up not only the initial page load, but scripts/stylesheets as well.

Text content can often be shrunk by 80% or more with very little cost on the server side.

Also, be sure that caching is enabled with the proper response headers!
